Cartoon truth

Bok’s view of illegals asking to be taken to camps (and out of harsh elements)

While this scrivener is against separating families — they should immediately be deported to any country that will accept them — if we must house them, open up the BRAC-closed military bases and sequester them there — as families..

After all, the bases have

    Family and singles housing
    Medical facilities
    Eating facilities (a/k/a “mess halls”)
    Laundry facilities
    Athletic facilities
    Religious accommodations
Classrooms where immigrants can learn basic English.
I did NOT include job training since our “guests” won’t be staying (and taking jobs from Americans who are willing to work). The job training should be reserved for Americans on the dole who are able to work (as a condition to keep receiving aid).

I suggested this once to a liberal who promptly labeled me a nazi!

Surly there are sufficient clothes to outfit the “guests” for the duration of their stay.

Unlike many readers, I have first hand experience on military bases in the U.S. and elsewhere.

While some in Congress will call the former military facilities “concentration camps”, trying to equate military bases with the nazi death camps — thereby denigrating the memory of those who suffered and died at the hands of the nazis and the men and women who served this country on those bases. By the way, no one asked a “G.I.” where he or she wanted to serve; “the needs of the service come first.”

Perhaps editorial cartoonist Tom Stiglich really SHOULD publish a book titled Concentration Camps for Dummies (above) for AOC and her ilk.

I wonder if the Democrat ignoramuses in Congress think about the party’s “god,” FDR, who incarcerated U.S. CITIZENS, some with close relatives in the U.S. armed forces. (See http://tinyurl.com/ydbgw6av and
http://tinyurl.com/y2s6ufmz)

MEANWHILE, any one employing an illegal needs to receive free food, clothing, and housing — behind bars. No jobs = no illegals.

Non-citizens can, and do, come to America on legally-issued work visas. Florida and the Gulf states are inundated with temporary agricultural workers.

Enterprise Risk Management, Business Continuity

Are airlines ready
For caterer’s strike?

ACCORDING TO tv talking heads, caterers supplying meals at Miami International (and perhaps other) airport are threatening a strike.

I HOPEFULLY the airlines learned from British Airways’ experience when Gate Gourmet, with a little help from BA baggage handlers effectively grounded the airline in 2005.1, 2, 3

I am about to board an international flight (MIA to BCN) operated by American Airlines (AA). AA is one of the major players at MIA and, if a strike is called, the strikers will focus on AA.

I well remember the BA strike, including a remark by a BA business continuity planner that “there was nothing we could do” to keep the airline’s passengers fed.

BA did “repurpose” customer-facing staff to handle baggage, a task for which they were both ill equipped and untrained.
There was a great deal BA could have done, despite what its business continuity planners claim.

I’’m not certain the airlines at MIA (and perhaps elsewhere) are prepared for a caterer’s strike or, worse, a secondary strike. U.S. and English laws, both civil (contract) and criminal probably differ.

As for today’s threat, my Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) experience tells me to pack food for the flight, “just in case.”

BA could have “imported” food from other airports on the island.

Likewise, AA can get another caterer, even if only on a temporary basis.

Luggage? If the baggage handlers walk off, that’s a secondary strike and it is against the (U.S.) law.

One HOPES that AA learned — and remembers — BA’s fiasco.

SPECIAL MEALS

My flight is a code share4 with El Al (as well as Iberia, Fin

I believe all El Al meals are kosher — that does not mean “delicious” or even “tasty.”

I wonder if El Al contracts with a separate caterer to provide kosher meals. My guess is “Yes.”

Other airlines also have lots of special diet requests. Not all fly out of Miami, but most have code shares with airlines with flights originating in Miami. My AA flight is a code share with Finnair, Iberia, BA, and El Al.

Maybe I should ask to see a company’s Enterprise Risk Management plan — neither Business Continuity nor Disaster Recovery covers it all — before investing my money or, in the case of airline food, packing my own meals.

HYPOCRISY;
Good for goose
But not for gander

THE DAY’S “SCANDAL DU JOUR” is President Trump’s remarks to a former Clinton aide and tv “personality” that if he was offered “dirt” on a political opponent, he would listen and not necessarily report this contact to the FBI.

Trump later recanted and said he would “listen” to the dirt and then report the contact to the FBI or Attorney General’s office.

ARE AMERICANS SO NAIVE that they think their politicians don’t listen to “dirt” about their opponents? From ANY source. Does anyone think that politicians ANY party would tell a scandalmonger ”to “go away; we don’t want to hear it even if it’s true?”

I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale to anyone that gullible or just plain foolish.

AMERICA DOES IT

The U.S. has a long history of interfering in other country’s political workings.

The U.S. has gone so far as to remove a “democratically elected” president. The president may have been a scoundrel and be totally unworthy of the office, but it is not American’s job to change a foreign government.

Under one recent president the U.S. did everything it could manage behind the scenes to get the foreign nation to elect a left-wing candidate to replace a right-wing candidate. (The effort failed.)

The U.S. is not alone.

Every nation wants people in office who will support their agenda.

The former president who tried, and failed, to get a left-wing government installed in an independent nation later “punished” that nation for not voting his way by (a) reducing financial support to that nation and (b) on his last day in office, appropriating $221 million for the country’s enemy.1, 2, 3

The Democrats, proving they are — at best — sore losers, have been trying to pillory Trump since the day Clinton finally, grudgingly, conceded.

Trump staffers had meetings with Russians about a new hotel he planned to build in Russia. ILLEGAL! I don’t know what is illegal about a business meeting and, unless I am mistaken, Trump’s interest in his company already was out of his hands at the time.

The Russians allegedly gave the Trump campaign information that reflected badly on Clinton. Given her record as Secretary of State — remember Benghazi and her blatantly illegal email server? — should have sufficiently tarnished her image so that Trump and his campaigners didn’t need Russian “dirt.” Never mind the “Clinton Foundation” and her husband’s questionable activities.

HOW MUCH MONEY IN PACS

Political Action Committees (PACs) are not supposed to accept money from foreign donors.

However, anyone can give any amount to one or more U.S. citizens who can then give the money — now converted to U.S. currency — to a PAC. If the foreign “investment” is spread out sufficiently, there is little chance that the foreign “interest” will be detected.

It is not just “dirt” on political opponents that is used to sway an election.

“Social media” is married to voter gullibility — if something is on Facebook, Twitter, of other site, it must be true.

That bridge, ibid., still is available.

Most posters don’t cite their sources, a major clue that the post is just the poster’s opinion that likely has no basis in reality. (Note that this scrivener cites sources.)

Hypocrisy

It is the height of hypocrisy to complain about foreign involvement in U.S. elections — especially whispers into a candidate’s ear — when American politicians use U.S. money and power to determine another country’s government.

If it’s good enough for the goose, it ought to be good enough for the gander.

APARTHEID
Not Israel but PLO
Practices apartheid

Israelis participated in a wedding held this week in the village of Deir Qaddis in the Ramallah area, sparking a furor on social media, as reported by Kan journalist Nurit Yohanan.

Arab residents of the village were furious that Jews participated in the wedding. The village leader explained that he was unaware of the arrival of the Israelis to the village, saying that he expelled them and the Palestinian Arabs who were with them.

According to the village leader, the Jews came at the invitation of Palestinian Arab guests, who work together with them in a car repair shop. Source: http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/264598

UNFORTUNATELY, this is not an “exception to the rule.”

Muslims can, and do, buy and build homes — some far nicer than many “Jewish” homes in Israel — but a Jew can not buy or build in the PLO areas.

THAT IS APARTHEID

Muslims can shop anywhere in Israel.

Jews cannot shop in Muslim stores in the PLO controlled areas.

Muslims can ride any bus, train, or taxi in Israel.

Israelis are warned not to enter PLO-controlled areas.

THAT IS APARTHEID

Every time some ignoramus proclaims that Israel is an apartheid state, listeners can safely assume several things:
  *   The ignoramus has no understanding of “apartheid”
  *   The ignoramus has never been to Israel or South Africa, the latter during white rule
  *   The ignoramus has zero first hand knowledge of either the PLO or it’s practice of anti-Jewish apartheid
  *   The ignoramus has a desire to implement apartheid against Israel (ergo the BDS movement).

Governments around the world have practiced apartheid — including the U.S. Consider the ghettos of Europe, the shtetls of the former USSR, the reservations in the U.S. — tools of apartheid all. Tools of segregation, for that’s what apartheid is in reality.

In the PLO-controlled areas, there are no “Jim Crow” laws as there were in the U.S. — separate water fountains for white and for “coloreds”; restaurants and stores with separate doors for “coloreds” and whites.

Why?

No Jews allowed.

NEXT TIME

The next time someone claims Israel is an “apartheid country,” CONSIDER THE SOURCE.

Apartheid (segregation; lit. "separateness") was a system of institutionalized racial segregation that existed in South Africa and South West Africa (Namibia)[1] from 1948 until the early 1990s. Apartheid was characterized by an authoritarian political culture based on baasskap (or white supremacy), which encouraged state repression of Black African, Colored, and Asian South Africans for the benefit of the nation's minority white population. Stoneman Douglas:
Anatomy of tragedy
Beginning to unfold

SCOT PETERSON, a fired Broward County Sheriff’s deputy, is to face trial on several charges stemming from the murders of 17 people at a high school in Parkland FL.

AS THE DRAMA UNFOLDS it seems Florida’s new governor was a bit hasty in firing the elected sheriff, Scott Israel.

Sheriff Scott Israel, left; ex-Deputy Scot Peterson, right

The governor sacked Israel claiming his department lacked training to respond to a mass shooting incident.

Based on tv reports — and credibility always is in doubt with today’s media — the deputy, Peterson, had been to several active shooter training sessions and had been the instructor in one active shooter class.

The remaining question: Who trained the trainers? State or federal personnel? Private contractors?
Perhaps the training was lacking, but given that Peterson led a session suggests that he knew his subject, at least to the department’s satisfaction.

This tells me that the sheriff was not derelict. His deputies may have been derelict or they may have been cowards.

According to the media — remember the credibility issue — Peterson waited out of the line of fire for 48 minutes before entering the school.

One thing that became clear in the after action report was that communications between law enforcement agencies — state, county, and municipal — were the reason the school was not flooded by Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs)/ The Sheriff’s Office (SO) and the locals were on different radio frequencies.

There was talk of doing something to resolve this issue, but is it still just talk?

Still on communication, apparently a number of state and federal agencies had information on, or had suspicions about, the shooter well before the tragedy unfolded. This keeping information away from others who need it is becoming Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the FBI dating back at least before 9-11-2001 when the Fibbies refused to share information between their own offices! Apparently state and local organizations feel “If it’s good enough for the FBI, it’s good enough for us.”

Some kids seem to be getting the “If you see something, say something” message even if the adults don’t.

There is a great deal that could be done to prevent a recurrence of the disaster.

Firing the sheriff was not one of them.
