Obama vs. Trump

Good for the goose
But not for the gander

LEFTISTS AMAZE ME. I CANNOT BELIEVE they are so ignorant of history.

They seem infected with a monkey disease — they can neither see nor hear; but then the liberal media tends to hide anything that might upset the leftists’ bigotry.

The cause du jour that has the left picketing airports and seaports is a NINETY DAY — 90 days only — ban on immigration form seven countries known to export terrorism: Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Yemen.

According to Brietbart, President Trump is not suspending visas from countries his team selected, they are simply suspending visa approval from countries the previous president selected. Additionally, Trump is suspending ALL visa applications from those countries – nothing to do with Muslim applications.

Is this “anti-Muslim”? How can it be anti-Muslim since there are at least 47 Muslim-dominiated countries, and almost no country sans a Muslim population.

Muslim populations by percentage of overall population

According to Town Hall, the previous president signed the Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act as part of an omnibus spending bill. The legislation restricted access to the Visa Waiver Program, which allows citizens from 38 countries who are visiting the United States for less than 90 days to enter without a visa.

Outside groups such as the American Civil Liberties Union and NIAC Action — the sister organization of the National Iranian American Council — opposed the act, the bipartisan bill passed through Congress with little pushback.

At the initial signing of the restrictions, foreigners who would normally be deemed eligible for a visa waiver were denied if they had visited Iran, Syria, Sudan or Iraq in the past five years or held dual citizenship from one of those countries.

In February 2016, the Obama administration added Libya, Somali and Yemen to the list of countries one could not have visited — but allowed dual citizens of those countries who had not traveled there access to the Visa Waiver Program. Dual citizens of Syria, Sudan, Iraq and Iran are still ineligible, however.

The Act still is in force.

Aljazeera notes in a headline that Six other times the US has banned immigrants and adds in a sub-head that Donald Trump's 'Muslim ban' is not the first time specific groups or nationalities have been blocked from the US.

Aljazeera lists the other times bans have been imposed.

Republican President Chester A. Arthur, 1882, signed the Chinese Exclusion Act. The act banned "skilled and unskilled laborers and Chinese employed in mining" from entering the US for 10 years. Chinese already in the U.S. were prohibited from citizenship.

Republican President Theodore Roosevelt, setting the tone for his Democrat cousin, signed a bill banning anarchists’ immigration in 1903. The act - also known as the Immigration Act of 1903 - codified previous immigration law and, in addition to anarchists, added three other new classes of people who would be banned from entry: those with epilepsy, beggars, and importers of prostitutes.

During Democrat President Franklin Delano Roosevelt three and a half terms in office, as millions of people became refugees during World War II, Roosevelt argued that refugees posed a serious threat to the country's national security. Drawing on fears that Nazi spies could be hiding among them, the country limited the number of German Jews who could be admitted to 26,000 annually. It is estimated that for most of the Hitler era, less than 25 percent of that quota was actually filled.

In one of the most notorious cases, the US turned away the St Louis ocean liner, which was carrying 937 passengers, almost all of whom are thought to have been Jewish, in June 1939. The ship was forced to return to Europe, where more than a quarter of its passengers are thought to have been killed in the Holocaust.

The U.S. Congress passed, overriding President Harry S Truman’s veto, the Internal Security Act of 1950 - also known as the Subversive Activities Control Act of 1950 or the McCarran Act - made it possible to deport any immigrants believed to be members of the Communist Party. Members of communist organizations, which were required to register, were also not allowed to become citizens.

Democrat President Jimmy Carter cut diplomatic relations with and imposed sanctions on Iran and banned Iranians from entering the country.

Under Republican President Ronald Reagan, the US Public Health Service added Aids to its list of "dangerous and contagious" diseases. Senator Jesse Helms' "Helms Amendment" added HIV to the exclusion list.

In 1987, the US banned HIV positive persons from arriving in the US. The previous Democrat president lifted it in 2009, completing a process begun by Republican President George W Bush.

So far, the leftists’ protests reportedly have been sans violence; at least the media has not reported any criminal activity. Peaceful protests ARE “the American way.” Rioting, such as engaged in by Hillary’s henchmen, is not.

Still, those taking to the streets with their signs and whines must be ignorant of their own president’s actions or perhaps it is OK for a liberal to trample the civil rights of people with whom they disagree. The leftists I know won’t listen to, or read, any opposing point of view and, based on their current behavior, don’t know U.S. history.

Unlike many of his predecessors, the incumbent is attempting to keep his campaign promises.

If the leftists could just LISTEN and get the whole story before hitting the street they probably could save a lot of shoe leather, cardboard, and markers.

It’s too easy to believe half truths and outright lies; no thinking required.

Snow storm in Miami
Heat wave in Minneapolis
Liberals Blame it on Trump

MAYBE IT’S MY IMAGINATION (it isn’t) but the liberal media — “liberal” and “media” seem to have become redundant — blames everything on America’s new president.

The cartoonists, like the media in which they appear, apparently are like two of the three famous monkeys: they can neither see (read) nor hear, preferring to ignore the whole while focusing on selected parts, e.g., Trump will cancel Obamacare (selected part) and REPLACE IT WITH SOMETHING BETTER (ignored.)

But one cartoonist, Jennifer Babcock, seems to something positive about Trump’s presidency despite the liberals’ doom and gloom attitude.

After too many years of self-serving Obama, a 140-character statement would be welcome. Unfortunately, Trump already knows how to “string” 140-character statements together. (How does he avoid fat-finger typos?)

With the tv talking heads focusing more on the deaf and blind — or perhaps simply illiterate — protestors rather than the election winners, and while the Dumb-ocrats in Congress are stalling Trump’s nominees — knowing that in most cases, the GOP majority will approve them anyway (the exception being Marco Rubio, still miffed at losing the primary to a person voters considered the better candidate), the swearing in is left in the wings as a second thought.

Trump repeatedly said, but apparently the Dumb-ocrats and media failed to get the message, that he wants to be a president for all Americans; he wants to being the country together. Toward that end, more than 60 Dumb-ocrats in Congress — in s showing of their pettiness worthy of only a 6-year-old — are boycotting the inauguration. Hillary, however, will be front, if not center, at the event and all liberal eyes assuredly will be on her.

The boycotters all have excellent reasons for their action — or inaction. As an example, Rep. Karen Bass (Calif.) made her decision after conducting a Twitter poll ! on whether or not she should attend the inauguration. Her Congressional district includes many neighborhoods in the City of Los Angeles. The district also encompasses Culver City as well as the unincorporated communities of View Park and Ladera Heights. (I doubt any Hollywood luminaries live in her district; in any case they probably left the U.S. by now, keeping THEIR promise.)

In this scrivener’s 74 years I have never seen behavior such as the liberals attacks on a president. Conservatives, many of whom held Obama in contempt, never treated him to the abuse the Dumb-ocrats are giving Trump; AND HE IS NOT EVEN BEEN IN OFFICE FOR A DAY. WHERE’S THE “HONEYMOON” that all new presidents have been allowed — until Trump.

The closest thing that comes to mind is the Dumb-ocrats attacks on their own president when Harry S Truman became president on his predecessor’s death. That, of course, was followed up by the Chicago Daily Tribune’s premature — and grossly inaccurate — headline

It turns out that Obama’s pre-D.C. hometown paper was not the only media outlet to make that, and a similar faux pas.

The Democrat & Chronicle in Rochester, NY, not only had Dewey defeating Truman, but "by a landslide."

Topix Media, the Newsweek partner that produces Newsweek's special issues, decided to only ship the version reporting Clinton's victory, as that outcome seemed certain at the time, judging by the media and polls. The Germans also got ahead of themselves.

One left-of-center Israel newspaper was taking no chances; it printed a cover page with BOTH candidates as winners; rotate the tabloid page to the winner you want.

The media polls were inaccurate throughout the campaign — that’s easy enough to accomplish: carefully word the question and ask only selected people who are known to think as the pollster wants the poll to reflect — the “news” articles were biased throughout the campaign, and as Trump is about to take the oath of office, the media is focusing on the anti-Trump demonstrators at the expense of the people who support the new president.

Dumb-ocrats staying away or attending anti-Trump demonstrations, and their reasons why are listed on the Washington Post web site. Interestingly, disgraced former DNC chair, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is missing from the boycotter’s list.

Man of peace day
Marked by crime,
Shooting in Miami

ONCE AGAIN MARTIN LUTHER KING JUNIOR day in Miami is celebrated with criminals talking over the roads and shooters killing or wounding children.

The children were wounded at a park named for the civil rights icon.

It has become a scoff law’s tradition known as “Wheels up, Guns down” when miscreants from around the nation converge on Dade County (Miami) with their dirt bikes and three and four-wheel all terrain vehicles (ATV), vehicles illegal to use on public streets.

They terrorize motorists, thumb their noses at cops, and some get killed for their stupidity.

This has nothing to do with King nor guns.

According to the Fort Lauderdale (FL) Sun-Sentinel,

A dirt bike rider was killed in a crash in northwest Miami in a crash that happened about 7 p.m. Monday, police said.

A day earlier, on Sunday, an ATV rider was killed in a crash on the Palmetto Expressway, according to WPLG-Ch. 10.

Additionally, a motorcyclist who was part of a larger group of ATV riders was critically hurt in a crash near Northwest 167th Street and 27th Avenue, according to the Miami Herald.

Organizers say the ride is supposed to promote peace and honor King's message of nonviolence.

Miami’s CBS Channel 4 reported that By 10:30 p.m., law enforcement in Miami-Dade and Broward (counties) arrested 36 people, confiscated 74 various motorcycles, dirt bikes and ATVs and seized three firearms. The confiscation and firearms counts were later adjusted upward, with at least four guns seized.

So much for “Wheels up – Guns down.”

MEANWHILE Fox News headlines King Day parade turns violent when 8 shot in Miami and reports

A national holiday that was supposed to be about nonviolence erupted into mayhem in Miami when police say eight people were wounded in a shooting at Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park.

Police say they are not sure what started the shooting on Monday afternoon. Hundreds of people had gathered in the park after the annual MLK Day parade in the Liberty City neighborhood. People scattered in all directions when they heard the gunfire.

The wounded ranged in age from 11 to 30. Miami-Dade Detective Daniel Ferrin says two suspects were being questioned.

Miami's WSVN Channel 7 broadcast

According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, three juveniles and three adults were shot, and two other juveniles were grazed by bullets. The two juveniles who were grazed were treated on the scene and released to their parents.

Miami-Dade Police searched for the shooters in nearby homes. At around 5:20 p.m., officers confirmed they had detained two people for questioning and recovered two weapons from the scene.

“[This happened] too close to home,” said witness Tammy Meeks, who was attending the celebration with her family. “I mean, I had my son out here, my nieces and nephews were here, and my main concern was to make sure they were OK. My main goal was to get down and cover them, so they wouldn’t be harmed. It’s terrible. I mean, this is supposed to be Martin Luther King Day. This should be one of the one days out of the year where whether you’re white, black, Hispanic — no matter what you are — we come together and just have fun and care for one another, and it’s senseless that we can’t just do that on one day of the year.”

Bernie Sanders —
Deaf, blind or stupid?

THE NOON EXCUSE FOR “NEWS” just showed former presidential candidate and still senator Bernie Sanders on the Senate floor railing about the imminent demise of Obamacare and the rape of both Medicare and Medicaid.

The other day, the same senator was telling the world that Americans need to keep President Trump’s feet to the fire to assure that he follows through on his promises to (a) replace Obamacare with a sound program and (b) not to touch Medicare and Medicaid. Obviously he can’t remember from day-to-day what he says — or what his speech writers write.

With senators like Sanders, it’s no wonder the country’s in the mess it’s in.

Still in the house that “frustrated “ him, Marco Rubio — apparently still miffed that Trump trounced him in the primaries — is taking pot shots at Trump from his seat on the Senate Foreign Relations committee.

The senator from Florida — trying to make his bones on national tv for another run at the Oval Office — tried to get Trump’s Secretary of State candidate, Rex Tillerson, to answer loaded questions. While Rubio probably would disagree, Tillerson’s replies were at least “diplomatic” — as a diplomat’s replies should be.

I can understand Sander’s problem: he believes what he’s told by the talking heads on the tv news. A 15-second sound bite — edited to meet the media’s liberal agenda — is more valuable and believable to those who want to believe than the facts, the words that come out of the speaker’s mouth, even if read from a prepared-by-other’s script.

Rubio is just a petulant child trying to get even with the kid who won the game. That’s OK, he’s in the good — or maybe not-so-good — company of the Bush family, another primary candidate that failed to make the cut.

Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton temporarily is retiring from national politics to run for New York City mayor; she carried the town in November. These are some of the people who elected her to the U.S. Senate as soon as she declared residency in New York; never mind that she had no history with the state.

She has, at least, ceased her constant snipping at the new president. Her fans, however, seem to keep the beat going.

Billionaire Democrat activist Tom Steyer is behind an anti-Tillerson tv campaign in several states that catches itself in a half-truth. Watch and carefully listen to the video.

Mental health experts,
FBI must share blame
For rampage at airport

IF NEWS REPORTS CAN BE BELIEVED, then the FBI and mental health “experts” should share the blame for the five deaths at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (in Dania Beach).

According to CNN, Esteban Santiago was in an Alaska FBI office in November, saying his mind was being controlled by US intelligence, he left two things in the car. A gun and his newborn child.

The FBI later claimed the baby was NOT left in the Santiago’s car.

The Army veteran's rambling walk-in interview at the Anchorage office was concerning enough for authorities to take away his gun and order a mental health evaluation. But it wasn't enough to get him mentally adjudicated, which would have prohibited Santiago from owning a firearm.

The FBI’s failure to at least direct Santiago to a Veterans’ Administration facility is unconscionable. (The only VA facility in Anchorage is a ”Vet Center”. There are no VA hospitals in the state.)

Miami's Channel 6 reported that In November, Santiago walked into the FBI's office in Anchorage and complained of hearing voices, claiming the CIA was forcing him to join ISIS, FBI spokesman George Piro said during a Friday evening news conference.

Officials said local police were called and he voluntarily went to a mental health facility for treatment.

While the motive remains under investigation, his brother and federal officials said he had been receiving psychological treatment recently. Santiago served in Iraq with the National Guard but was demoted and discharged last year for unsatisfactory performance.

Santiago’s relatives said that he had been receiving mental health treatment in Alaska..

Even if the mental health evaluation proved insufficient to get Santiago “adjudicated,” the facts that (a) he left an infant in his car when he walked into the FBI office and (b) claimed he was hearing voices should have been sufficient to hold the man in Anchorage. The “infant alone in a car” would be sufficient in many states to incarcerate the man, at least for awhile. Later the FBI would correct its erroneous statement and admit Santiago’s baby was NOT left in the shooter’s car while he talked to the feds. By then the damage was done.

Why Santiago, a Porto Rican native, chose Florida as the place to murder innocents has not been established.

According to KTTU in Anchorage, In addition to his visit to the FBI office, he had several encounters in recent years with law enforcement officials in Anchorage:

Sept. 14, 2015: Police ticket Santiago for driving a red 1995 Ford Explorer without insurance. He remains living in South Anchorage. A charge filed by the city of Anchorage later notes that Santiago admitted to the offense.

Dec. 12, 2015: The driving without insurance charge is dismissed.

Dec. 30, 2015: Santiago signs a “notice of change of mailing address” in a city criminal case, listing his address as an Anchorage post office box. By this time, Santiago was no longer living at the mobile home at 1200 W. Dimond Boulevard, according to the current occupants.

Jan. 10, 2016: The city files a two-count criminal charge against Santiago, accusing him of property damage and domestic violence assault. The charges say Santiago kicked or forced a door open and frightened his girlfriend, yelling at her while she was in the bathroom. The charges say Santiago forced his way in the bathroom, breaking the door and door frame.
“(The girlfriend) stated that he continued to yell at her ‘get the f--- out bitch,’ while strangling her and smacking her in the side of the head,” according to an Anchorage police officer’s account. The officer wrote that he saw no physical injuries on the woman.

Feb. 17, 2016: Santiago is accused of violating the conditions of his release. Police say he had been ordered not to have any contact with the victim in the previous case, but that police found Santiago at her residence on the 1300 block of Medfra Street.
Santiago admitted that he had been living at the home since about Jan. 17, according to the charges.
Online Alaska court records show that the assault charge was dismissed, but municipal prosecutor Seneca A. Theno said that is incorrect.
Theno said the charge of violating conditions of release was dropped in exchange for Santiago agreeing to plead no contest to the domestic violence assault and criminal mischief charges.

Feb. 23, 2016: According to APD Chief Chris Tolley, "On February 23, (there was) a violation of conditions of release. Mr. Santiago was restricted from his Medfra Street address. During a compliance check, officers found him there, arrested and remanded (him.)"

March 18, 2016: APD responded to a "physical disturbance" involving Santiago, but police were not able to establish probable cause for an arrest, Tolley said.

Oct. 15, 2016: Anchorage police responded to a domestic violence physical disturbance involving Santiago, said Tolley, and officers investigated. However, the municipal prosecutor did not give authorization to make an arrest.

Oct. 21, 2016: Santiago was involved in another physical disturbance, and there was an "allegation of strangulation," Tolley said. Again, officers did not establish probable cause or make an arrest.

TSA regulations do NOT require airline passengers to have a concealed carry permit to travel with a weapon and ammunition. The weapon and ammunition must be in a locked, hard-sided container (gun safe).

In Florida, Santiago's domestic violence record would prevent issuing him with a concealed carry license. Florida does have a reciprocal carry agreement with Alaska (and most states, albeit with some state-by-state limitations). To date there has been no publicly disclosed information if Santiago had a valid license to carry a concealed weapon. (Florida prohibits open — not concealed — carry.)

BOTTOM LINE The bottom line is that somehow Santiago “slipped through the (legal) cracks”, legally checked a weapon at the airline’s ticketing desk and boarded a plane for Florida — at this point no reason has been given for his choice of destination — where he used the weapon to murder and maim people trying to collect their luggage.

The FBI and mental health “experts” in Anchorage must share some of the responsibility, with Santiago, for the disaster at the airport.

Great yarn marred
By incorrect “facts”

I JUST READ STEPHEN J. CANNELL’S Vigilante (ISBN978-0-312-64611-0).

I like the late author’s Cannell’s work (he died in 2010), in print and on the tube.

Problem is, I now can’t “trust” his facts.

IT’S A SMALL THING, but the book’s main character, Shane Scully, too often is “thumbing off the safety” of his 9mm Springfield automatic.

The company is Springfield ARMORY and the weapon is a semi-automatic, NOT an automatic; there IS a difference.

My Son The Cop has two Springfield Armory XDS semi-autos; a .40 and a .45. Neither has a thumb safety — a safety that the shooter moves to allow the weapon to fire.

I did some internet digging and learned that the only Springfield Armory semi-automatic with a thumb safety is the .45 “1911.” The 9mm, like my son’s .40 and .45 semi-autos lack this safety.

There ARE other ways to assure the weapons are “safe,” but a safety that the shooter “thumbs” on and off is not one of them.

Cannell had a killer using 129 grain Hydra-Shok Federal 9mm jacketed hollow point (JHP) bullets. Unfortunately for Cannell, the bullets are Federal (the company) Hydra-Shok (the product). A quick look at the Federal web site, 9mm Hydra-Shok bullets come in 124, 135, and 147 grain weights.

Granted, the non-existent thumb safety on the Springfield Armory 9mm SEMI-automatic and the use of non-existent 129 grain bullets are relatively minor issues.

But with the Internet, there is no excuse for factual errors. I know a little bit about handguns, albeit I’m no expert; sufficient that the errors caused me to pause and wonder about other “facts” that are in error; for example, police procedures.

I’m not sure where the blame lies for what I deem “blatant” errors — the author or the proofreaders. Since the publisher, St. Martin’s Press, is located in New York City — with its notorious gun laws — I doubt the fact checkers and proofreaders would have any knowledge of handguns and handgun ammunition.

Vigilante is a good read, and most the late author’s tv shows likewise hold interest, but — having read Vigilante I’ll be looking for other factual errors in other Cannell books and films.

While it doesn’t spoil his works for me, it does take some of the fun out of the product.

Checking the facts would have been so easy.

No Russian hackers
In Vermont utility,
Only Dems committee?

ARTICLES IN THE LEFT-leaning Washington Post and the right-leaning Washington Times seem to agree:

Russian government hackers do not appear to have targeted Vermont utility, say people close to investigation

The Russians invaded Vermont — not!

Could it be that, as president-elect Trump contends, the Russian (government) did not hack into the Democrat National Committee’s (DNC) emails? (And it if did, why not into Clinton’s illegally stored-on-a-private-server State Department emails?)

Russia’s boss, Putin, is not a man easily liked by most Americans; we see him as an arrogant bully. But even arrogant bullies sometimes get blamed for others’ handiwork.

It appears that the DNC hackers were Russian; according to some sources, the keyboard used to hack the DNC displayed the Cyrillic alphabet (vs. the U.S.’ Latin alphabet as an example) and the hackers apparently were working on Moscow time — interesting that hackers work “normal” hours.

Most word processors come with multiple alphabets; all a user has to do is select one as the default and, by pressing a key combination (e.g., [Shift]-[Alt]) select an alternate alphabet. I would suspect that the DNC application that was hacked was coded in Latin (English) characters so keyboards with Cyrillic characters on the keys would have to be set to Latin characters.

It is not impossible to “learn” the keyboard “mapping” of a foreign alphabet and there are — for many alphabets — tiny labels to paste on individual keys for people who cannot remember the “map” of a “foreign” keyboard.

Office Depot sells a keyboard with both Latin and Russian characters marked on the keys for US$37, with free shipping.

The bottom line is that the soon-to-be ex-president may have acted prematurely — a knee-jerk reaction — by specifically blaming Putin and his government based on suspect information. The incumbent at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue has made enemies of multiple heads of state, Putin being only one.

It is wise to recall that the heads of the spy — sorry, intelligence — agencies serve at the pleasure of the president, and even though the current president’s days are soon to end, he still is their master, and playing to his fears or political dreams is still best for their careers.

Incoming President Trump claims he, too, has “sources,” sources that might — and apparently do — have a different “take” on the DNC hack attack.

Whose experts are correct and whose are not remains to be seen, but Putin denies his government played any part in the DNC hack. Meanwhile, the incumbent has put the U.S. into the beginning of a cyber war that can only benefit the Chinese; it is not a war that can be won, but at least it is not a shooting war — albeit it could lead to one — where Americans are killed for a president’s ego.

DISGRACEFUL !
Russians hack DNC
U.S. tastes own medicine

IF THE RUSSIANS HACKED the Democrat (not “Democratic”) National Committee's anti-Sanders/pro-Clinton emails, then they learned the lesson from Obama’s own people,

A quick search of the WWW for obama funded anti-netanyahu campaign turned up the following headlines:

Google reported “about 809,000 results in 0.44 seconds.”

The two Washington (DC) sites are at opposing political poles; the Post is left; the Times is right.

On Tuesday, July 12, 2016 the Washington Times reported: The State Department paid hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxpayers grants to an Israeli group that used the money to build a campaign to oust Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in last year’s Israeli parliamentary elections, a congressional investigation concluded Tuesday.

Some $350,000 was sent to OneVoice, ostensibly to support the group’s efforts to back Israeli-Palestinian peace settlement negotiations. But OneVoice used the money to build a voter database, train activists and hire a political consulting firm with ties to President Obama’s campaign — all of which set the stage for an anti-Netanyahu campaign, the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations said in a bipartisan staff report.

The Washington Post ran a press release from the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations (PSI) on July 12, 2016 that reads, in part: Within days after the grant period ended, however, the group (OneVoice) deployed the campaign infrastructure and resources created, in part, using U.S. grant funds to support a political campaign to defeat the incumbent Israeli government known as V15. That use of government-funded resources for political purposes after the end of the grant period was permitted by the grant because the State Department failed to adequately guard against the risk that campaign resources could be repurposed in that manner or place limitations on the post-grant use of resources.

On August 16, 2016, The Hill leads off: The recent revelation that the Obama administration awarded U.S. taxpayer dollars to a group that helped a campaign to defeat Israel's sitting prime minister in last year's elections is reminiscent of the president's long list of dubious and ill-advised attempts to cause leadership change in other sovereign nations.

The American Enterprise Institute offers an opinion by Marc A. Thiessen which interestingly notes that Amazingly, One Voice had informed the State Department about its plans for an anti-Netanyahu campaign during the federal grant period, but Obama's State Department did nothing. This is supported by the committee report.

CNSnews picked up the Senate release, emphasizing Sen. Bob Portman’s comment that “It is completely unacceptable that U.S. taxpayer dollars were used to build a political campaign infrastructure that was deployed — immediately after the grant ended — against the leader [Netanyahu] of our closest ally in the Middle East. American resources should be used to help our allies in the region, not undermine them.”

“The (Obama) State Department ignored warning signs and funded a politically active group in a politically sensitive environment with inadequate safeguards,” said Portman in a July 12, 2016 press release.

To be fair, Portman is a Republican from Ohio.

Hillary Clinton served as Obama's Secretary of State from January 21, 2009 to February 1, 2013 and was not directly Party
connected to the interference with Israeli elections.

The DNC emails

Wikipedia states that The 2016 Democrat National Committee email leak is a collection of Democrat National Committee (DNC) emails leaked to and subsequently published by WikiLeaks on July 22, 2016. This collection included 19,252 emails and 8,034 attachments from the DNC, the governing body of the United States' Democrat Party. The leak includes emails from seven key DNC staff members, and date from January 2015 to May 2016. The leak prompted the resignation of DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz before the Democrat National Convention. After the convention, DNC CEO Amy Dacey, CFO Brad Marshall, and Communications Director Luis Miranda also resigned in the wake of the controversy.

According to US officials warned DNC of hack months before the party acted Federal investigators tried to warn the Democrat National Committee about a potential intrusion in their computer network months before the party moved to try to fix the problem, U.S. officials briefed on the probe tell CNN.

A person briefed on the DNC's response says the warning from the FBI and other agencies wasn't specific, and that the extent of the problem wasn't clear when the initial warnings came. DNC officials hired outside help after additional indications surfaced that their systems were compromised.

Russians or …

Kassia Halcli, writing for left-leaning PBS on October 26, 2016 acknowledges that Analysts say, however, that the ability to determine who cyber attackers are, where they’re located and sometimes who ordered their operations is rarely definitive and comes in degrees of confidence.

Beyond the Obama government’s headline assertion that Russia is to blame, “it’s important to parse the public statement pretty closely,” said Susan Hennessey, a national security fellow at the Brookings Institution. “They’re being really careful in their word choice.”

Without more definitive statements, it’s difficult for some technical experts to take the government’s word on faith, she and others have said.

“There’s no evidence that this was done by the state itself, only evidence it was done by non-state actors that might be Russian-speaking,” said Jeffrey Carr, CEO of the cyber security consultancy firm Taia Global, referring to the evidence available to the public.

The remaining question

IF the DNC – and Obama — knew or had reason to believe — it had been hacked, why did it and Obama wait until Trump suddenly appeared electable to complain aabout email hacking?

Bottom line: Interfering in ally’s democratic processes is OK for Obama, Clinton, et al, but not when the U.S. Democrat party is the target.

It is OK for Obama’s intelligence agencies — all of whom depend (until Jan. 20) on Obama’s patronage; the heads of these organizations serve at the president’s pleasure -- to blame one of Obama's favorite targets. The story of the emperor's new clothes comes to mind — we believe what we want to believe, and it’s easy to blame Putin & Pals given that Trump apparently respects Russia’s potential.

I’m a little surprised Obama blamed Russia and not Netanyahu and Israel; it’s a smaller, easier target. But like Putin, Netanyahu would fight back.

The soon-to-be ex-president promised to allow thousands of Muslim “refugees” into the country once they were “fully vetted.”

The vetting would, initially at least, be done by contractors, not US. agencies. Several European countries have opened their doors to Muslim “refugees” sans restrictions and have paid the price.

Allowing refugees into the country is the “humane” thing to do after all; the only refugees ever denied entry were Jews escaping the nazis, most famously on the SS Saint Louis.

Unlike Muslims who may have allegiance to one of the many Muslim terrorists organizations, the Jews fleeing the nazis had no loyalties to any group threatening America and Americans. On board the SS St. Louis were less than 1000 passengers – a small percentage of the Muslim refugees the out-going president planned to admit. At the time, the U.S. had a great deal of “vacant” land on which the Jews could have been interned and a Jewish population willing to finance their welfare.

THE PRESIDENT WHO denied Jews entry into the U.S. — and sent many to their death at the nazi’s bloody hands — was a Democrat: Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

The name of FDR’s — and the soon-to-be former president's — party is NOT “Democratic” but “Democrat.” The media gets it wrong more than it gets it correct.

FDR was, if not the first, one of the first to rule by polls. He made no move that might prove unpopular with his congressional allies.

While FDR sent hundreds of innocent Jews to their deaths, he also sent thousands of Japanese-Americans to internment camps. Many of the Japanese were second generation Americans, wholly loyal to the U.S.

The 442nd Regimental Combat Team (RCT) was organized on March 23, 1943, after more than a year during which Americans of Japanese descent were declared enemy aliens, 4-C, by the U.S. War Department. It had taken all that time plus several key events to convince the Roosevelt Administration that these men should be allowed to enter combat for their country. Eventually, the 442nd, bolstered by the combat-hardened 100th Infantry Battalion, comprised of Japanese American draftees from Hawaii, became the most decorated unit in U.S. military history for its size and length of service. The Japanese-American soldiers served in Europe; 21 were awarded the Medal of Honor.

FDR also set up internment camps for selected Germans. The legal basis for internment was under Presidential Proclamation 2526, made by FDR under the authority of the Alien and Sedition Acts.

During WWII, the United States detained at least 11,000 ethnic Germans, overwhelmingly German nationals. The government examined the cases of German nationals individually, and detained relatively few in internment camps run by the Department of Justice, as related to its responsibilities under the Alien and Sedition Acts. To a much lesser extent, some ethnic German US citizens were classified as suspect after due process and also detained. Similarly, a small proportion of Italian nationals and Italian Americans were interned in relation to their total population in the US. The United States had allowed immigrants from both Germany and Italy to become naturalized citizens, which many had done by then.

Some German nationals also had been interned during WW1.

Nothing, of course, compares to what several generations of politicians and military “heroes” did to the Indians (a/k/a “Native Americans*”) — driving them, sometimes thousands of miles — into internment camps called “reservations.”
